Returns Policy

Thank you for purchasing from Ciano Art. Each original artwork is handled, packed and shipped with care. Please read this policy before making a purchase.

This Returns Policy applies to purchases made directly through cianoart.com or directly from Ciano Art.

1. Original Artwork Returns

If you purchase an original artwork online, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the artwork, unless the artwork was custom-made, commissioned, personalised, or otherwise exempt under consumer law.

To request a return, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order:

You do not need to give a reason for returning a standard original artwork purchased online, but the artwork must be returned in its original condition.

2. Return Conditions

Returned artwork must be:

  • in the same condition as received
  • undamaged, unmarked and unaltered
  • returned with any certificate of authenticity or documentation supplied
  • packed securely in the original packaging where possible
  • returned using a tracked and insured delivery service

Please do not return artwork without contacting us first. We will provide return instructions.

If artwork is returned damaged due to poor repackaging or unsuitable return shipping, a refund may be refused or reduced to reflect the loss in value.

3. Return Shipping Costs

Unless the artwork arrived damaged, faulty, or the wrong item was sent, the buyer is responsible for return shipping costs.

For valuable artwork, we strongly recommend using a tracked and insured service. Ciano Art cannot accept responsibility for returns lost or damaged in transit.

Original outbound shipping costs may not be refundable where a return is made due to change of mind, except where required by law.

4. Refunds

Once the returned artwork has been received and inspected, we will notify you by email.

If the return is approved, your refund will be processed using the original payment method, unless otherwise agreed.

Refunds are normally processed within 14 days of receiving the returned artwork or proof that it has been sent back.

5. Damaged or Incorrect Orders

If your artwork arrives damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery where possible.

Please include:

  • your order number
  • clear photos of the packaging
  • clear photos of the damage or incorrect item
  • a short description of the issue

Please keep all original packaging, as it may be required for insurance or courier claims.

Where damage or error is confirmed, we will work with you to resolve the issue. This may include a repair, replacement where possible, refund, or other appropriate solution.

6. Custom Artwork and Commissions

Custom, commissioned, bespoke or personalised artworks are not eligible for change-of-mind returns, unless they arrive damaged, faulty, or do not match the agreed commission details.

This includes artwork created to a specific size, colour palette, brief, interior project, name, text, theme, or personal request.

Deposits for commissioned work may be non-refundable once work has begun, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

7. Stretched, Framed or Specially Prepared Works

If an artwork has been stretched, framed, altered, customised, or specially prepared at your request, it may not be eligible for return unless it is damaged, faulty, or incorrect.

Please confirm all presentation requirements carefully before approving stretching, framing or custom preparation.

8. In-Person or Studio Purchases

For purchases made in person, at a studio visit, exhibition, fair, or physical location, change-of-mind returns are not automatically available unless agreed at the time of purchase.

This does not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty, damaged, or not as described.

9. International Orders

International buyers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, handling charges, or local fees that may apply.

If an order is refused at customs or returned due to unpaid customs charges, any refund may be reduced by shipping costs, return charges, customs fees, or other costs incurred.

10. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are not eligible for change-of-mind returns:

  • custom, commissioned, bespoke or personalised artworks
  • digital downloads
  • gift cards
  • artworks altered, stretched, framed or specially prepared at the buyer’s request
  • items returned without prior approval
  • items damaged after delivery due to handling, storage, installation or return shipping
