ARTIST STATEMENT
Irish Artist Ciano
“Art should make you feel like something cracked open. That’s what I aim for.”
As a contemporary Irish visual artist, my work invites the viewer into a loud, layered conversation—about identity, culture, contradiction, and memory. I use bold iconography, saturated colour, torn imagery, and graffiti-style mark-making to create chaotic compositions that feel both deeply personal and culturally wired.
I’m inspired by the energy of music, street life, nostalgia, and rebellion. My background as a DJ fuels how I approach visual rhythm: I sample, mix, remix, and distort. Think of it as a collage of visual frequencies—where meaning isn’t handed over, it’s uncovered.
At the core of my work is this question:
How do we define ourselves in a world telling us what we should be?
I channel that tension through pop culture fragments, slogans, street symbols, and discarded media. The result? Visual experiences that echo with recognition—while challenging the viewer to look deeper. Each piece becomes a mirror, asking:
What do you see in the chaos? And what does that say about you?
These aren’t just artworks. They’re visual anthems for those who refuse to be boxed in.
They’re made for people who live at full volume.
